The Gulf Shore Railway Company was incorporated under New Brunswick Cap. 49, April 6, 1885. It built a line from Pokemouche Junction (on the Caraquet Railway) to Tracadie, N.B., completing it in July 1887.
The Gulf Shore Railway Company merged with the Caraquet Railway Company on April 13, 1911 and formed the Caraquet & Gulf Shore Railway Company. Their combined trackage stretched from Gloucester Junction on the Intercolonial main line near Bathurst, N.B. to Tracadie, N.B. with a branch line from Pokemouche Junction to Shippigan, N.B.
